This unit is required when using managed lithium batteries, like Pylontech US2000 and US3000, and the Epever Lithium compatible inverters. 

If you have an older model of the UPower series, and are upgrading to lithium, please check with us before you purchase, as some models do not support the firmware upgrade required for correct compatibililty with lithium batteries.
